Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information Almsie collects when you visit our website or buy from us, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. 4. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only where needed, with:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and processes orders on our behalf.
- Payment providers, to take payment securely.
- Delivery companies, to get your order to you.
- Email, analytics and advertising partners, to run our marketing and understand how our site is used. Where we use your data for targeted advertising, you can opt out here.
- Professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or prevent fraud.
- A future owner of our business, if Almsie is ever sold or merged.
Shopify may also use information about your interactions with our store, together with other merchants, to provide and improve its services, as explained in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. You can exercise rights over that use through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small files saved on your device. We use essential cookies to make the site and checkout work, and, with your consent, analytics and advertising cookies. You can change your choices at any time through the cookie banner or your browser settings. If you visit with the Global Privacy Control signal turned on, we treat it as a request to opt out of targeted advertising.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers store or process information outside the UK. When that happens, we make sure it is protected by approved safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or a UK adequacy decision.
7. How long we keep it
We keep order and payment records for 6 years, as UK tax law requires. Account details are kept while your account is open. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept for as long as needed to help you, and normally no longer than 2 years.
8. Keeping it safe
We use secure, encrypted checkout and trusted providers, and we limit access to your information to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, so please don't send sensitive information, such as card details, by email.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- receive your information in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before
- opt out of marketing, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us
To use any of these rights, email hello@almsie.com. We'll reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first. You can ask someone else to make a request for you if you give them written permission.
10. Children
Our products and website are for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.
11. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
